It is one of the earliest forms of behavioral studies, and integrating the movement of the Cosmos and the behavior of individuals and societies. Until the late 19th century, Astrology and Astronomy weren't separate studies, and it's only the industrial revolution that divided them. I don't personally feel it's healthy to remove humans from nature or pretend we're not a part of it, but industrialism did just that. Science is a brilliant method of inquiring into the natural world and has created fascinating and productive results, the least of which were designed to make money, the best of which, even now, seem to be bringing us closer to what Astrology never forgot - humans are connected to a larger consciousness.

This question bothers me for many reasons, but the most important is that it is ignorant of astrology, while believing it is associated directly with it. When most people say "my sign" they mean their sun sign, because that is all that most human beings know. It's a reflection of how little we tend to know about ourselves, and that plays a BIG part in why we are so closed off to others. Your sun sign doesn't determine your compatibility with another human being - respect, self-control, and compassion does. The sun sign is a very important part of your natal chart ( your natal chart is the placement of the planets and other astrological benchmarks at the exact time of your birth) but does not exist in isolation. The house-wheel, degrees, other planets and their aspects to your sun sign (your birthday) ALL impact who you'll be compatible with and why, so I suggest looking deeper to understand your compatibilities.

There is no GOOD astrology that can answer this questions JUST by knowing your sun sign. While many astrologers have compatibility apps on their sites, for me this is a clear sign they are not good astrologers. The only way to answer that question, really, is to understand the charts of both you and your beloved. By analyzing your chart, you and/or an astrologer will be able to understand the KIND of person you will need in your life to have a healthy and successful romantic relationship with. For some, that looks traditional monogamy, for others it's open, free, and polyamourous. What it will never tell you is the Sun-sign your partner HAS to or SHOULD be, because that's not what determines compatibility. FYI :)

No. Horoscopes are BAD ASTROLOGY. That's all. The reason being, they are created by placing the 1st house at the sign they are predicting for, but speak to (or advertise to) a reader's sun-sign. In astrology, one is not the other. When you place the 1st house (the ASC line) in one of the zodiac signs, you are predicting for the Ascendant (or rising) sign, NOT the sun sign. Yet, in every horoscope in all the newspapers, magazines, online blogs, etc., they use the birthdate range to indicate who the horoscopes is for - EX: Leo horoscope (July 21- August 22nd). This is bogus. That is an indicator of the Sun-Sign (when your birthday would be) and NOT the rising sign. Most people don't know their rising sign. That is why they use the sun sign as a talking point. The problem is, in terms of astrology, this makes the entire horoscope inaccurate, because it is predicting for the rising sign and NOT the sun sign. The truth about your sun sign is it can be in ANY of the 12 houses. And it's these houses that determine which parts of your life will be impacted by the movement and relationship of the planets. So, when you read a horoscope and it says, "Leo, issues may arise at work this week that will impact your self worth, and maybe your financial security" - that astrology is speaking to Leo Rising NOT Leo sun. Yet Leo sun is who it is labeled for. But, according to sun-sign, there is no way of knowing if it will be impacting your finances or if these events will happen at work! You'd need to know the house for that, and that only happens when your speak to the rising sign. This is why astrology has lost so much respect in the last 150 years. Because the only thing most people know about astrology (horoscopes) isn't astrology at all. It's just effective marketing.

No. Astrology is a method of natural inquiry, rooted in the philosophy that the human being (the individual) is a microcosm of the universe. It is in no way evil, or bad, or hurtful in anyway. Can it be used in horrible, toxic ways? - yes. Has it been? - yes. So the evil doesn't come from it, it comes from the human being using it. The same can be said (with MANY historical examples) for science. The same can be said for religion. The same can be said for television, the internet, humanity itself. But no, there is nothing evil about it. To many religious institutions it is "sacrilege" but that usually steams from the strict control many religions like to hold over their followers, which, in my opinion, is extremely evil. Evil is an intentional act of severing a human from God (the divine). Astrology promotes a deeper understanding of the connection between the individual and the divine, so, in that respect, it is deeply spiritual and actually encourages an active and healthy connection to the divine, other humans, and nature.
